CHECK THE TAG / PUBLICATION NOTES

About Check The Tag.

An independent educational project that translates published garment-care instructions into clearer practical decisions. Published by Alexios Papaioannou.

01 / EDITORIAL NOTE

Who publishes this project

Check The Tag was created as a free garment-care reference by publisher Alexios Papaioannou. The site is not affiliated with ISO, GINETEX, ASTM, the FTC, Woolmark or the manufacturers of the garments you own. It is a reference, not a testing laboratory.

What we check

Mark meanings are drawn from identified published reference editions. Each symbol detail page links to the relevant public source, and U.S. historical reference markings remain separate from modern international guidance. Garment-specific handling must still follow the sewn-in care label.

03 / EDITORIAL NOTE

What we do not claim

We do not pretend to have conducted original shrinking tests, photographed products that we have not photographed, or used a machine-vision model with validated accuracy. The app does not guarantee that a cleaning method will work for every garment.

Editorial corrections

Use the downloadable correction report on the Sources page to capture a suspected mismatch. Its report is generated on your device and is not secretly sent to a server. For standards changes, we update the reference edition, revision date and changelog before shipping a new release.

Source notes and publication editions

Care marks describe permitted treatments for the finished article, not a guarantee of results. Some standards require purchase and the illustrations here are independent teaching representations. Read the evidence and licensing limits.
